Biography

Dr. Kajal Thakuriya is a distinguished academician, practicing interior designer, and artist with 25 years of rich experience spanning design practice, creative arts, and higher education. Currently serving as the Head of the Department of Design at Vivekananda Global University (VGU), Jaipur, she brings a highly valued multidisciplinary lens to contemporary research. She holds a Ph.D. in , alongside Master’s degrees in both Interior Design and Fine Arts, anchoring her expertise at the intersection of spatial design, pedagogy, and visual arts. An active researcher and Ph.D. guide, she has contributed significantly to the academic community through numerous published research papers, books, book chapters, and patents, with her scholarly work previously recognized with a best paper award at NATCON. Committed to bridging industry and academia, she serves as the National Co-Convener for IPA - Vanita and maintains active professional memberships in esteemed bodies, including ISHRAE, the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID), the Association of Designers of India (ADI), and the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA). Her senior leadership, combined with her dual perspective as an active practitioner and seasoned academic supervisor, establishes her as a leading voice dedicated to promoting rigorous, practice-based, and highly impactful research in the design domain.
