Biography
Professor (Dr.) Govind Prasad Mishra is a distinguished academician, researcher, philosopher, and academic administrator, currently serving as Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU), a Central University, Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh. He has also served as Former Head, Department of Philosophy, IGNTU. With 24 years of teaching and research experience in higher education, he has made significant contributions to the fields of Philosophy, Indian Knowledge Systems, Yoga, and human development. He holds M.A. degrees in Philosophy, Sanskrit, Science of Living, and Yoga, and has qualified UGC-NET and earned a Ph.D. His areas of specialization include Indian Philosophy, Yoga Philosophy, Life Management, Human Excellence, Indian Knowledge System, Ethics, Spirituality, and contemporary applications of Indian philosophical thought. He has served in several important academic and administrative capacities, including Examination Controller at Patanjali University; Nodal Officer, Former Hostel Warden, and Former Deputy Director, Distance Education, at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Shantikunj, Haridwar. He has also been associated with academic governance as a Member of the Academic Council and Member of the Board of Studies (BoS) in various academic institutions. He is Vice President of the Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh Darshan Parishad. He is currently guiding 10 Ph.D. research scholars, four of whom have already been awarded their Ph.D. degrees. He has been actively engaged in teaching, research, academic administration, curriculum development, and scholarly activities. He has authored two books and has contributed nearly 100 research papers, book chapters, scholarly articles, and other academic writings. His research and academic pursuits focus on exploring the relevance of Indian philosophical and knowledge traditions to contemporary life, holistic human development, value-based education, life management, and human excellence. Through his teaching, research, and academic leadership, he is committed to advancing philosophical inquiry and promoting the meaningful integration of India's rich intellectual traditions with contemporary academic discourse for the intellectual, ethical, and holistic development of individuals and society.
