Abstract
The paper explores poetry in English from Assam since 1960 onwards. This poetry includes translations from Assamese poetry both religious and secular by various translators and poetry written originally in English. Those who have written originally in English are Lakshahira Das, Bhupati Das, Dayananda Pathak, Umakanta Sarma, Rupanjali Baruah and others. Assamese poets writing in Assamese are seldom obscure. The publications of Assamese poets writing in English do not reflect the essence of the Assamese culture significantly. In this regard it is different from the English poetry written in other Indian provinces
