There have been several imaginary territories: verbally sketched, mentally visualized and whimsically dwelt. Literature has facilitated many such 'imaginary lands' accommodating ideals, fantasies, facts, histories, counterfactual histories, and pragmatism. M.G. Vassanji is one such architect and realtor of fictional territories which are accommodated by ideas cohabited alongside fictional characters. The Imaginary villages and towns constructed in the premises of Vassanji's creative terrain penetrate into the lives of few individuals who collectively constitute the fictional community of Shamsis and Gadivaras
