Authorspress
Publish with us
Authorspress publishes literary and creative writing alongside scholarly monographs and edited volumes. A book begins as a proposal on DigiAccess. From that point, every step is visible to you: who is deciding, what they decided, and why. We publish in English, Hindi, Sanskrit and all other Indian languages.

Two kinds of book
A book of your own
A monograph, a novel, a collection of poems or stories, written by you alone or with co-authors.
An edited volume
Chapters by several contributors, which you edit. Once the proposal is approved, the volume opens a public call for contributions on DigiAccess, and each chapter is reviewed on its own.
What a proposal contains
The form asks for the following, and tells you what is still missing before you submit.
- A working title
- It can change later.
- A synopsis
- At least 50 words on what the book is and what it argues or explores.
- The scope
- What the book covers, and what it deliberately leaves out.
- The intended readership
- Who the book is for.
- The formats you intend
- Paperback, hardback, e-book, or several.
- A draft table of contents
- Chapter titles are enough at this stage.
- A short biographical note
- About you, and about any co-authors.
- For an edited volume
- A note on the contributors you expect to invite.
- An AI-use declaration
- Which AI tools, if any, were used in preparing the work, and for what. “None” is a complete answer.
From proposal to publication
In brief below; the author’s guide gives every step in full, with who acts, what you receive and where to find it.
You submit a proposal
The proposal form is on DigiAccess. You may add a sample chapter. Nothing is sent by email, and the proposal and every decision on it stay in your dashboard.
A named editor reviews it
An Authorspress editor takes the proposal into review and decides how the book will be assessed: an editorial decision for commissioned literary and creative work, or review by the editorial board or by peer reviewers for scholarly books. The editor then approves the proposal, asks for a revised proposal, or declines it, and the reasons come to you in writing.
You send the manuscript
Once the proposal is approved, you upload the full manuscript. An edited volume opens a call for contributions instead, and each chapter is reviewed as it arrives.
The manuscript is decided
The editor accepts the manuscript, asks for revisions, or declines it. A revision is a new file, and every version is kept.
Terms and the agreement
Only after acceptance do terms come into it. Where the book is author-funded, you receive an itemised estimate drawn from the published rate card, and nothing is invoiced before this point. You and the publisher then sign a publishing agreement.
Production
Copyediting, typesetting and the cover follow the specification agreed for your book. You see and approve the proofs before anything is printed.
Publication
The book is assigned its ISBNs and published with its own page in the Authorspress catalogue on DigiAccess, listed on Amazon and Flipkart, and deposited with the national libraries as the law requires.
What we commit to
- Acceptance is decided on the work alone, before any fee is discussed. Payment never buys acceptance.
- Every decision is made by a named editor and recorded, with its reasons, in your dashboard.
- Fees, where they apply, come from a published rate card, itemised, with GST shown separately.
- Editors never decide on a book they are credited on.
